The Main Benefits of Business Train Travel

Business Train Travel

The UK rail network offers one of the most convenient and cost-effective modes of transport, especially if you’re travelling for business reasons. If you’re doing most of your business travelling in a car, then you might hesitate before making the switch – but there are plenty of good reasons to do so.

Save money

Train travel tends to be more cost-effective than road transport, especially in an era of high fuel prices. In some cases, you might be able to dispense with the car entirely. This tends to be practicable for workers in major cities like London, where the next train is rarely more than a few minutes away.

If you’ve been stung by rising fuel prices over the last year or so, then you might also crave the stability that comes with train fees – which, while not exactly stable, have not risen over and above inflation in the same way as the price you pay at the petrol pump.

For example, you might get from Wimbledon to London bridge by train, and pay less than a fiver – or less, if you’re buying in bulk. Investing in a season ticket might save you considerably over the course of a year.

Better for the environment

Train travel is more environmentally friendly than driving, both in terms of carbon emissions and small particulate pollution. A domestic train ride might emit forty-one grams of CO2 per passenger mile, while a car with one passenger will release 171g. Compare it to flying, and the difference is even starker.

Go direct to your destination

Urban train stations tend to be located centrally, which means less time spent looking for a car park and travelling to the place you’re going to be working in.

Get more legroom and comfort

If you’re travelling by train, then you’ll tend to get more legroom. What’s more, you’ll be afforded the occasional opportunity to get up and stretch your legs. If you’re going to be spending a significant amount of your working life travelling, then it makes sense to do it in comfort.

Work as you travel

If remaining productive is a priority for you, then you’ll find a business-class train compartment akin to a mobile office. The ride is smoother, and there are charging ports for your laptop. You’ll be able to use your travel time to catch up on emails, leaving you free to focus on deep work when you actually arrive.
